Children and Young Person’s Development and the Teaching Assistant Role

This course is provided in partnership with Babcocks and is aimed at candidates who currently work as a teaching assistant or who volunteer within a setting and have opportunities to support pupil learning.

This session will focus on communication and the TA role and the associated standards including: understanding the challenges and opportunities of teaching in a diverse society; how to apply distinctive teaching approaches and strategies needed to engage and support pupils with needs; assessing learning and analysing evidence. The training is part of a series of four sessions and can be accessed individually or as part of the series.

Cost: £30 per session or £100 for all 4 sessions


Specific Course Requirements

  • Experience of supporting pupil learning.
  • Support from a school based Senior Leader if a school is paying for the training.
  • Complete an evaluation after the session.
