Pancake Workshop Review

As part of a project to develop speaking skills in secondary schools 12 boys from year 7 took part in a cookery workshop where they learnt how to make pancakes in French. The session was conducted entirely in French and gave the boys the opportunity to learn and experience the French language outside the confines of the classroom.

Pancake Workshop Review

The crêpe lesson was really fun, because it was more interesting than a normal lesson. In a normal lesson you would be reading books, writing and doing tests. In this lesson we did a practical. It was still learning because we learned all the words for the different equipment such as: une spatule, une louche, un fouet and un saladier. We also learned about the ingredients we were going to use in the crêpe activity, for example, l’huile, le lait, le sel, la farine and le sucre.

Everyone really enjoyed making and eating the crêpes. Making us actually do something for ourselves, like making food helps our understanding and means we will remember more.

Ma crêpe préférée était la crêpe au chocolat avec le sucre et la crème.
