The Medway Teaching School Alliance are delighted to be able to offer a one-day conference from Dr Barry Hymer. This one-day conference for practitioners in the EYFS-KS5 will focus on contemporary research findings in the fields of mindsets, mental well-being, resilience and high level achievement, and how these findings can be converted into classroom practice. Drawing particularly on the work of Carol Dweck, Dr Hymer will explore the implications of this research in terms that will make practical sense to busy practitioners. The session will cover:

  • Mindsets and the link to mental well-being of pupils (and staff)
  • How to build resilience
  • What classroom challenge looks like, and why some children/students (and teachers) love it, and some avoid it
  • How a growth mindset approach can raise pupil attainment for a range of learners.
  • How a school can have 'a growth mindset'? and what it might look like
